Juïno Terms of Service
Last updated 23 October 2026.
1. About these Terms
In short: you see the book before you pay, your photo is used only to make your book, and if something is wrong you can contact us and a person will look at it. The full Terms follow.
These Terms apply when you use juino.com.au or order a book from us. We ask you to read and agree to them when you create your account. Before you pay, we ask you to confirm the key points of your order.
Juïno is operated by Gahyun Kwon, a sole trader registered in the Republic of Korea (business registration number 391-78-00507), trading as Juïno (we, us, our). You can contact us at support@juino.com.au, on +61 483 708 024, or at Office D104, Level 1, 888 Brunswick Street, New Farm QLD 4005, Australia.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, including your child's photo. It forms part of these Terms.
2. Who can use Juïno
You must be 18 or older to create an account. Only a child's parent or legal guardian can upload a photo of that child and ask us to make a book about them, which you do on the child's behalf. If you'd like to give a book to a child who isn't yours, please ask their parent or guardian to make it.
We deliver within Australia only.
You sign in with your email address and a six-digit code. Please keep your email account secure, as anyone who can read your email can sign in to your Juïno account. When you first sign in, the email with your code also sets out what you agree to as the child's parent or guardian, and entering the code confirms it (see our Privacy Policy).
3. How it works
- You give us the name to appear in the book (a first name or nickname is enough) and a few choices for the story.
- You choose one photo of the child. Only a head-and-shoulders crop of it is uploaded, and you check and confirm that crop.
- We create a preview (the cover and the first three spreads) and show it to you before you pay. The rest of the book is drawn the same way, from the same character.
- If the likeness isn't right, you can ask us once to draw it again from the same photo. You can also send a different photo and we will cast it again, up to three times per book. Both are at no cost. We call this The Re-cast Promise. Each account can make a limited number of previews.
- If you are happy with the preview, you confirm it, place your order and pay. Please check the name and the delivery address before you pay. Because each book is made for one child, we ask you to confirm before you pay that your order can't be cancelled or changed once we start making it, 2 hours after you pay (see clause 9). We print your book exactly as you approved it. The finished book is checked before it goes to print.
- The book is printed and bound to order by our printing partner in Malaysia and sent to the delivery address you give us.
Before ordering opens, you can make a preview and join our waitlist instead of paying. We take no payment and you are not committing to buy. We will email you when ordering opens, and you can leave the waitlist at any time.
The illustrations are created from your photo using generative AI (image-generation technology). They are not drawn by hand, and the preview and the book say so. Your child appears as an illustrated character, so the pictures are an illustration of your child rather than an exact likeness. Printed colours can look slightly different from your screen.
4. Your photo and your permission
Before you upload a photo, you confirm that:
- you are the child's parent or legal guardian;
- the photo is of the child the book is for and does not include other people you do not have permission to use; and
- you are entitled to share the photo with us.
You keep all rights in your photo. You allow us to use it only to make, check, print and deliver your book, and to show the preview to you and anyone you choose to share it with. If you choose to keep the character file for your next book, we also use it to make that book. We do not use your photo to train any AI model of ours, and we do not use your photo, preview or book in our marketing unless you give us separate, express permission.
We may decline a photo we cannot use, for example if it is not of a child, shows more than one person, or is not suitable for a children's book, including where the safety check used to create the illustrations refuses it.
5. If another parent or guardian asks us to stop
A child may have more than one parent or guardian. If another parent or guardian of the child asks us to stop or delete, we will first check that they are the child's parent or guardian. While we check, we may pause the order and turn off any share link. If the request is confirmed:
- Before the book goes to print: we stop that child's book, delete the photo and everything we made from it, and refund what you paid for that book to your original payment method (and the delivery charge too, if nothing else in the order is still being sent). We tell you that the child's other parent or guardian asked us to stop, but not who they are or what they said.
- After the book has gone to print: the book can no longer be stopped and will be delivered as ordered. We delete the photo and everything we made from it, and ask our printer to delete its copy once the book has been sent. We tell you that the child's other parent or guardian asked us to delete it, but not who they are or what they said. Because we will no longer have the print file, if the book arrives damaged or faulty, we'll refund you rather than reprint it.
6. Previews and sharing
A preview you do not order is kept for 14 days and then deleted.
You can turn on a link to share your preview. Anyone with the link can open it without signing in. You can turn the link off at any time and it will stop working immediately.
When you send the link through a messaging or social app, that app keeps its own copy of the preview card, which shows the cover with the child's face and name. We cannot delete those copies, so please share the link only with people you would show the book to.
Sharing is your choice. If you ask us to stop sharing, we turn off the link and our preview image straight away, but copies already saved or passed on elsewhere may remain.
7. Prices and payment
Each book's price depends on the size and cover you choose, and is shown on our site and at checkout before you pay. Delivery anywhere in Australia is A$12 per order and is added at checkout. We don't charge for delivery when the books in your order come to A$110 or more before any promo code. All prices are in Australian dollars.
You can order more than one book in one order. Each book is still made for one child, and everything in these Terms applies to each book.
We are not currently registered for GST, so GST is not charged.
You pay the price shown when you place your order. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
Promo codes. We sometimes give out promo codes. Each code takes the percentage shown off one book and off the delivery charge on that order, if there is one. It can be used once on one order, and can't be combined with another code or exchanged for cash. Its expiry date is in the email that sends it, and codes can be used once ordering is open. If we send a code by mistake, we may cancel it before it's used.
8. Production and delivery
Each book is made to order for one child.
Books usually arrive 8 to 10 business days after you order. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed date, because printing and courier times can vary. For delivery before Christmas, please order by 30 November; if you order after that, we will tell you before you pay that the book may not arrive before Christmas. If your book is going to arrive later than we said, we will let you know. We will email you when your book has been sent, with tracking details.
Books are sent from Malaysia by courier (currently DHL). We pay any import charges.
If your book is lost on the way, we send a new copy at no cost. If the courier shows it as delivered and it hasn't reached you, tell us and we'll ask the courier to look into it. If the courier confirms it was lost or delivered to the wrong place, we send a new copy at no cost. Once the courier confirms delivery to the address on your order, the delivery is complete.
Please check your delivery address carefully. If a book cannot be delivered because the address you gave was incorrect:
- if the book is returned to the printer, we will send it once more to the corrected address, and you pay the actual cost of re-sending it; or
- if the book is not returned, we will make it again as a new order at the normal price.
9. Cancelling or changing an order
For 2 hours after you pay, you can cancel your order, or change the book, your child's name, the word for the grown-up or the delivery address. We show you how much time is left. If you change your child's name or the word for the grown-up, we show you the new cover to confirm. You can swap to another story only if you made its preview before you paid, and a change doesn't add to the 2 hours. If you cancel within that time, we refund what you paid for that book, and the delivery charge too if nothing else in the order is still being sent.
After those 2 hours we start making the book, and we email you to let you know. Each book is made for one child, so from then on the order can't be cancelled or changed and isn't refunded. If you decide you don't want the book, tell us before it has been sent and we won't send it, but we can't refund it. We ask you to confirm this before you pay. This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (see clause 10).
If you ask us to delete your child's information within the 2 hours, we cancel that book and refund it as above. If you ask after we've started making it, the book isn't refunded. We finish and deliver it unless you tell us you don't want it, and we delete the information as soon as the book has gone to our printer, or straight away if you don't want the book (see clause 14 and our Privacy Policy).
10. If there is a problem with your book
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:
- to cancel your service contract with us; and
- to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.
You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods.
If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion.
You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
If your book arrives damaged, has a printing or binding fault, or is lost in transit, we'll reprint the same book and send it to you at no cost. This promise is for printing, binding and delivery; the story and the illustrations are made the way you approved in the preview. Our Returns and refunds page (juino.com.au/returns) explains how to tell us, the photos we need, when we may arrange for the book to be collected so it can be checked (at no cost to you), and how long this promise lasts. It forms part of these Terms, and what it promises is in addition to your rights above.
11. When we may cancel an order
We may cancel an order only if:
- we cannot make the book (for example, because the photo cannot be used, or the safety check used to create the illustrations refuses it);
- the person who uploaded the photo is not the child's parent or legal guardian;
- the payment is fraudulent; or
- making the book would break the law.
While we are still checking, we pause the order rather than cancel it. If we cancel, we tell you why and refund you in full to your original payment method. Clause 5 covers requests from the child's other parent or guardian.
12. Intellectual property
Your photo remains yours. We claim no rights in the child's likeness.
The story, text, illustrations, characters (such as Doug, Effie, Banjo, Boing and Tilly) and design of the book belong to us.
You may keep, read, share and show your book and preview for personal, non-commercial purposes. Please do not sell or reproduce them commercially.
13. Acceptable use
You must not upload a photo of a child you are not the parent or legal guardian of, or a photo of anyone else you do not have permission to use, use Juïno to harass or embarrass anyone, make false claims that a book was lost, damaged or faulty, or access the service by automated means.
14. Deleting your information
You can delete your photo and everything we made from it at any time, using the "Delete my data" link at the bottom of any page on our site, or by emailing us. Our Privacy Policy explains what we delete, when, and what we keep. If you delete while an order is in progress, clauses 5 and 9 apply.
15. Our liability
We are not responsible for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, war or widespread outages, that we could not have prevented by taking reasonable steps. If this happens, we will tell you and take reasonable steps to limit the effect.
We are not responsible for the part of any loss that you caused, for example by not keeping your email account secure, or by uploading a photo you were not entitled to use. This does not limit our responsibility for loss we caused, including any failure in our own security, or our legal responsibility for how we use the photo and make the pictures.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes apply to orders placed after the updated Terms are published. Your order is governed by the Terms that applied when you placed it. Each version stays online, unchanged, at its own dated address, and previous versions are listed at the end of these Terms. We will email you about any significant changes.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. If you live in another Australian state or territory, you can also rely on the consumer laws of that state or territory and bring a claim in its courts or tribunals.
